Eat Local

Eat Local

Locally owned independent restaurants, grocers, farmers markets, and local food nonprofits — connecting our community with the food system that feeds it.

What is Eat Local?

An annual campaign spotlighting locally produced food.

Eat Local celebrates locally produced food through events, menus, and deals — hosted by locally owned independent restaurants, grocers, farmers markets, and local food nonprofits.

Ingredients are considered "local" if sourced within a 100-mile radius across La Plata County and the four surrounding counties. Our goal: create deeper connections between people and their food system, support local farmers, and better our community.

The Good Food Collective

A first-time-ever collaboration of local nonprofits was chosen to receive $355,843 from the USDA through the Local Food Promotion Program — only 14% of proposals reviewed were funded. The grant launches the Durango Regional Food Recovery Hub, increasing access to locally produced food, developing new markets for farm and ranch operations, and strengthening regional food security for Durango, and La Plata and Montezuma counties.
